Your song
There are some real lucky girls out there that have had songs written about them.
Look at Patty Boyd. First George Harrison writes the beautiful, "Something" about her. Them Eric Clapton nicks her off him and writes "Layla" for her. Not bad going, Patty.
When I met Meeester he was the singer in a band called The Dawntreaders. This week he put all the old stuff up on myspace, fearing it might get lost in the detritus of domestic life otherwise, but mostly because he's proud of everything they did.
He's moved on to a new band now, but the Dawntreaders' stuff still has a big place in his heart, and mine.
Follow this link and you can listen to "Braver than you Know", the song he wrote for me.
Still chuffed...

Lovely :)
Must be the nicest feeling to have a song written about you - as long as they say something nice anyway!
:)
*fades into the mists of a time gone by*
What I'd like to know is how you managed to get a guy in a band to settle down and procreate?! I've shagged/gone out with loads of musicians and, generally, they're a bunch of self-absorbed wankers. Except for the drummers. Drummers are normally OK.
My boyfriend at university was singer in a band - round about that time - and wrote not a single song for me. He did, however, manage to knock a microphone stand over on stage which smashed a pint glass into my handbag. I discovered that much later when it slashed my hand open. So, no song, just a scar...
Craig: yeah, nobody wants Cliff Richard's "Devil Woman" to be about them!
Taex: yeah Meeester's been in them mists all weekend. Despite a Lorelei gig on Friday a band practice on Saturday and writing three new songs!
Slutty: I wish I knew...if I could pinpoint it, I could write best selling manual!
Cat: Oh, which one? Still... scar stories are cool!
Now that's brought a touch of nostalgia into my life: I remember going to a Dawntreaders gig when I was a student. Many years ago. Far too many years ago.
I wonder if it's the same band. I wonder if it's the same singer. I wonder if any of it, cosmically speaking, really matters.
Irrespective, it's still pretty cool to have had that song written for you.
Ro: Well yes, it is the same band and that man you hear is the same singer you would have seen. Please tell me he didn't get you up on stage and embarrass you..he kind of does that sometimes...
Anyway, he's now singing in The Lorelei....and actually played Aberdeen Uni last Friday night to a new generation of students...
How lovely of you to comment and say you remembered them.
Ah misssy m, I have had a song written about me, and indeed put out on an album, by someone I had never met ... a teenaged ska-punk stalker of mine who used to watch me on telly in the wee small hours and jerk himself off.
It contains some beautiful lyrics, peaking with lines such as "You sexless freak I think I love you". He even did me the honour of actually putting my full name in the title of the song. Bless him.
I am off to listen to your song now ... I'm sure it will be very lovely :)
Sx
Wow! That was beautiful.
No songs written about me, but I did have a boyfriend once write a lovely sonnet about my ass. It was the nicest compliment ever.
But a song's nice, too.
;o)
Stray: A contender for my (new feature folks!) "Comment of the Week". I am laughing in an outlouod kind of way!
Avery: Thanks..am passing your lovely comment onto Meeester. And a sonnet...how bless! Well that Shakespeare did like a comely wench! Are you immortal?
