Warm fuzzy love sharing project

I don't tend to blog about blogging, as I'm all about the stories about snails, Meeester wearing a naked suit, my kids violating national monuments and upsetting Germany really, but sometimes you need to stop and reflect on what it is about blogging that makes it all work.

My dear readers, it's the readers. We all need readers.

For me it's the readers, the comments, the mentions on your own blogs and the community aspect that make me want to keep telling you stuff I normally only talk about when I've had a bottle of Jacob's Creek on an empty stomach.

The best thing though is when you get a new reader who says hello. I'm sure you'll all agree. And I don't think I'll ever become blase about that. So it's good to know that one of the very few high rolling bloggers out there feels the same. Danny whose Dad Gone Mad blog is a titan amongst American blogs gets hundreds of readers for every post.

He is consistently funny and self-effacing, that's why he gets the readers. Last week he shared the luff by asking all of his readers to send him a link to their blog as a bit of self promotion. Post your links and then click on another link or two in the list and say hello, he offered. What a good idea, and what a very, very nice man.

And so I did, and what do you know, I've even gained a couple of witty and regular (in visits not toileting: I can't vouch for the toileting) readers as a result.

So I feel that posting the list here is the very least I can do to carry on the Blogging Torch of Bloggolove (not actual name...I just came up with that. Bet Saatchi and Saatchi are shitting themselves, eh?).

Click on a link or two and leave a comment so devastatingly witty that the fellow blogger has no choice but to link back to you, read your blog and become a new blogfriend. You may get readers, you may get more good blogs to read. What can possibly go wrong?

Thanks to a certain Miss Random Ramblings for compiling all the URLs.

Of course, for anyone from the list who is landing on the Misssives, check out my Blogroll at the side for all my personal recommendations. I like 'em, so you might.

I can practically taste the blogolove excreting from this post. (dry bowke)

I'll be sure to click a few, but which ones? The urls of blogs rarely reflect the quality of the contents. (ponders before taking a stab in the dark) Wish me luck and smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.

Misssy M said...

I always start with the rude sounding ones then work backwards.

And hey, all you NEED is blogolove. However anyone using the word "awesome" or "Huu-ugs" on my blog will be summarily slapped.

Ro said...

Well, I guess I know what I'll be doing tonight!

One awesome task ;^)

Loth said...

See now I have to go and see if Jaggy has a blog. A Red Dward reference will seal the deal for me every time. (And is it sad that I am so excited about being in a list? I need to get out more.)

Sarah, Goon Squad Sarah said...

Well, shucks. I have no idea how I made your list, but thanks for sticking me on there.

Now - off to be witty! Or at least make a valid attempt at it.

Jenn said...

I'm still working my way through the list but I adore my new time suck. Thanks for posting the compilation.

kittenpie said...

Ah, lookit you! I was about to come over and literally say, "I always love seeing a new face and getting a chance to come say hi" when you just said it first, AND topped it by posting this whole list! Wow.

(And really, I only round up quotations and post them now and again when I am particularly amused, but I'm glad I do, so I don't forget how ridiculous they are at this age! Thanks for stopping by, though, and saying hello, too.)

Thanks for posting the list - My blog has had a few hits from you doing that...and it's always great to get new readers. Thanks again - and I'll come back again

Ro said...

Aaaaarrgghhh - I've overdosed on babies! ;^)

Cobwebs said...

Aaaw. Thanks for taking the time to write about this, and re-post all the links. :)

Undomestic Diva said...

Holy crap look at all the blog love. You rock! Thanks!

Sherra said...

I'm currently out of town with barely an internet connection (Indiana farmland - I am getting the shakes) but can't wait to get home and go through your list. Thanks for the mention! Looking forward to exploring. :)

I'm the one who mad Dad Gone Mad madder...

Misssy M said...

Ro: Yes there do seem to be a lot of babies in there, I've noticed that too. I'm going to add some more URLs to the list from my favourites to balance it out.

Loth: Well for you it has been worth it on that one count- Jaggy's blog is like a soap opera- he blew up a woman's house the other day and the had the temerity to blog about it! The scoundrel...

Sarah: You made the list as you must have posted your link over at DGMad, hope you've had a few more visitors out of being on here. And crucially maybe some UK visitors to add some cynicism, dry humour and bad dentistry.

Jenn: I figure that in that list there must be at least one blog that someone may enjoy. I personally have clicked on a few that have interested me.

Kitten Pie: You're Canadian right? Hope you've had a few UK visitors out of this. Most of my commenters have excellent blogs themselves, so give them a look too. I also hope no kittens were actually harmed in the making of your pie.

K: That's what I want to hear. Make a change from waking up and seeing some guy in Finland has googled "naked threesomes with jelly" and ended up on your site, doesn't it?

Ro: I'm sending you over a video of a man being eaten by a crocodile as an antidote.

Cobwebs: I actually didn't realise I'd get this response. Funny that this is all it takes.

Undomestic diva; Wow, I'm an undomestic diva too. I'm actually officially on a government register for being so.

Sherra: You must have got one of the carrier pigeons I also sent with the list. Just feed them some grain and send them back if they are annoying you. Hope you get a few readers out of this and find a blog or two you like into the bargain.

Dad's House: Does your wife know you call your place Dad's House? If it's anything like my house when I went away for two weeks and left my husband fending for himself, it may need some renovating.

Scotsman said...

Oh man that's a long list to wade through at 9am on a Sunday morning after doing 27 straight hours - I think I'll come back in the afternoon after I've crawled out of bed. Nice idea though, why I never think of these shameless but ooh-so-clever ideas first i'll never know. :)

Misssy M said...

Scotsman: hey that was quick- I'd only just finished adapting my add on list- does someone click you already??

Burgh Baby's Mom said...

Dude. That's some serious time spent making links. You kind of rock for doing all that. Now I just need to find the time to work my way through the list!

Misssy M said...

Burgh baby- I didn't do the work really. Random ramblings did the real work and I just stole it and added my faves on. But I'm glad you are going to work your way through. Make sure you make it to my people...you'll find some great stuff...with a UK slant, in general.

TheMama said...

Enabler! Collecting new blogs to read is my new addiction, so now I'm going to have to go buy new underwear and socks.

I mean, I'll have to cut something else out to make room for all the Bloggolove, and laundry seems like a perfectly reasonable choice...

This is a cool list, and I can't wait to start clicking!

Lil Sass said...

It looks as though we have "found" each other via that lovely Danny Evans over at DGM. That man is now an interweb match maker of sorts. Missy, I couldn't agree more ... the comments are what keep us writing! You're brilliant and you've been added to my blogroll ;-)

Misssy M said...

Note to Dad's House: Apologies- just been over to your blog/house and realised that you are a single dad! So of course you can call it Dad's House! And very tidy it is too!

I'll slink off now...

Boy said...

Whoop! You love me! :)

A great idea. I'd love to work through your list, but I don't have enough time for my blogreads as it is. :S. Why can't someone pay me to read blogs damnit?

Scotsman said...

I've never actually bothered to check to see who comes visiting, probably because I half suspect that around 3/4ers of the blog visits is myself doing some editing and don't really won't to be proved correct.

Smiling Mom said...

Aw shucks, thank you for the link! :-) What a fun idea.

Mumma Boo said...

Hey, thanks for the link! Getting new readers is always a thrill! I'm working my way through Random Rambling's list and have added your faves to my "assignment". I'm fairly confident my children will be in college before I get through them all. I laughed out loud reading your "Well Hard Wedding" post. Sounds like my brother's wedding in upstate NY 20 years ago. Thanks again for sharing the luv!

Chocolate Sandwich said...

God bless you Missy for once more sending traffic in my direction. The nappies are many and the posts are few at present - so any new reader makes it all feel worthwhile.

Cheers!

Misssy M said...

Boy: I do love you and your dysfunctional ways! Of course you're on my list.

Scotsman: At least you've a healthy respect for prrof-reading. If only every blogger did.

Smiling: Hello and Welcome. It HAS been fun..I recommend it.

Mumma: Hello and weclome. Glad the trailer trash wedding is an international thing and that you liked it.

Choco: an absolute pleasure. I always enjoy your posts and I am certain you'll get some regulars out of this. It's not so much blog whoring as blog pimping. Consider yourself pimped out!

theneatos said...

Holy Moly the bloglove! Thanks for taking the time to add my link on there, too!

Now, I will have to get out my work funk and spend time amusing people! And ... I can't wait to find more timesinks --- er, um lovely blogs to read.

Woot =D

Misssy M said...

Neatos: Hello and welcome to the Misssives. My contribution to those statistics for work time lost due to internet surfing knows no bounds!

BretCB said...

I'm just wandering through to check out your corner of the world and say thanks for the mention in the crosspost of DeeDee's compiled list (and hoping I'm not one of the previously mentioned babies!).

Misssy M said...

Bret; It's a pleasure. As for baabies, I reluctantly blogged once about babies when I was having a dry spell. Turns out folk bloody loved it and I got Post of the Week.

I know nothing about what presses folks buttons...who knew that babies were more popular than snails, my preferred topic.

Travis said...

thanks for the link...and thanks for crippling my free time with more of this interweb to explore.

I can really recommend that Xbox4NappyRash fella, dunno why, I just LOVE him.

Handsome, witty, kind, not at all horizontally challenged or chubby or brace-mouthed.

And I bet he's a stud too...

...**sigh**...

Misssy M said...

Travis: That is no problem...hope you don't get fired.

XBox: He sounds excellent.

Nicole said...

Thanks so much for this!

I'm with you- it's so cool to connect with someone from another part of the country or down the street and realize they are feeling or doing the exact same thing.

My son is 4 and I can't believe the things that come out of his mouth- like Junior Misssy- it may be the age but I choose to think it's that our kids are just very, very bright :)

Misssy M said...

Hi Nicole: Posting the list has definitely been a worthwhile exercise. Even just to go through it and see what makes other people tick has been interesting. And although not all the blogs have been my kind of thing, I've found a few that most certainly are, and I've now subscribed to.
